Genoese Fortress in Sudak. An ancient monument of European medieval defense architecture. Having been laid down as early as in 212, it has become an international trading center named Sugdeya in the years of its bloom. The Fortress has become a kind of visiting-card of the resort-town.
Novy Svet (The New World, called Paradise before) A botanical nature reserve with unique juniper grooves (only in Syria you may come across alike one), tree varicoloured bays and many grottos; situated five kilometers to the west of Sudak.
Novy Svet is one of the most picturesque places of the Crimean Peninsula, and it is a birthplace of Russian Champagne wines, which have been produced here for more than hundred years using the classical bottle technologies. You may taste five sorts of Champagne at the Museum House of Prince Leo S. Golitsyn, the father of Russian wine-growing.
Sudak Winery is a branch of the renown Massandra Wineries. You may visit the Winery to taste 8 superb sorts of wine: dry, strong and dessert ones. You can buy 27 sorts of wine, neatly packed, as well as a number of very old collection brands. You'll be surprised from the low prices.
Kara Dag (Black Mountain), a dead volcano (30 kilometers to the East of Sudak), is a geological nature reserve having a status of the state-protected conservation area. No one will be left indifferent, seeing the fantastic landscapes and greatness of its rocks and crags, tiny coves and relict green. Its truly a living Fairytale of the Eastern Crimea.
There's a dolphinarium at the base of Kara-Dag, where you may enjoy a 45-minute show of dolphins and fur seals. At the adjoining area there's a Nature museum where you may view exotic fish, snakes and other reptiles.
Christian Sanctities are represented by an active Toplovsky Monastery located 30 kilometers off Sudak.
To get acquainted with Arts and Literature life of the Crimea, you may visit the Museum House of Maximilian Voloshin in Koktebel and the Ivan Aivazovsky Picture gallery in Feodosia. Modern arts are presented in the exhibition just on the walls of Aivazovsky gallery.
The Crimean Hydrological Conservation Area lies in the mountainous area 80 kilometers off Sudak. You may enjoy viewing the so called "Baths of Youth", numerous water cascades and a glorious Djur-Djur waterfall.
